今年是美國導演公會(DGA)成立之80周年，為了慶祝這80周年，公會便邀請二千多名導演會員，由他/她們去選出歷年來80部最佳導演的電影作品，以下便是會員們選出來的結果：

其中紫色部份的，則是筆者看過的電影，基本上是約一半左右，不算很多，有些的確是喜歡的，也有些則個人感覺是一般(或甚至已印象模糊)；至於沒有看過的那些，有些是想看但尚未有機會看，另有些則因題材(或其他)原因而提不起興趣看。不過，既然是行內導演們所選出來的，皆相信是有一定專業和水準。認同與否則見仁見智，但卻是值得作為參考。
此外，凡任何導演在DGA中勝出的，基本上都會在奧斯卡中贏得最佳導演，68年來只有七次不同賽果，故不但是連贏率達至90%，且該公會絕對是奧斯卡導演獎的最高指標。
